Ahmednasir Advices Oparanya to Accept Wanjigi’s Running Mate Offer
Prior to the 2027 general election, former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has been advised by Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi to accept the offer of running mate put forth by business magnate Jimmy Wanjigi.
Ahmednasir stated in an update published by X on Sunday, March 10 that the running companion position is priceless and that Oparanya is fortunate to have Wanjigi extend such an offer.
“What a lucky dude, Governor Wycliffe Oparanya is. Getting on a silver platter, the running mate position from Jimi Wanjigi is priceless. He should grab it,” Ahmednasir stated.
This occurs after Wanjigi paid Oparanya a courtship visit at his residence in Kakamega County prior to 2027.
Wanjigi told the media on Saturday that his encounter with the former governor of Kakamega was not for show, but rather the genesis of a movement that will contest President William Ruto in the upcoming election.
The former candidate for president urged Kenyans to closely monitor their activities, stating that numerous developments will transpire in the days to come.
“What you are seeing today is the beginning of a platform where we are saying we no longer can take this pain from the current government. We are even wondering if four years is too far. I want you to just watch our steps keenly there are many events in the coming days,” said Wanjigi.
At present, Oparanya is in competition with Hassan Joho, the former governor of Mombasa, who is vying for the ODM party leadership position should he succeed Raila Odinga as chairperson of the African Union Commission.
Raila endorsed Oparanya and Joho for leadership of the opposition party on Thursday, expressing confidence that they would continue to advance the party in his absence.
“We have Oparanya and Joho… they will stand together. A strong party foundation cannot crumble just because one person has stepped aside. The party is not an individual; it comprises members and leaders. I am confident that Oparanya and Joho will continue to lead the party even if I am in Addis Ababa,” Raila remarked.
