Alfred Keter is ready to take over the opposition if Raila Odinga gets the AU job
Former Nandi Hills Member of Parliament Alfred Keter has unequivocally confirmed his position in the opposition government.
Keter, known for his recent vocal criticism of the government and unwavering commitment to exposing what he sees as the Kenya Kwanza administration’s alleged cruelty, reiterated his commitment to truth-telling.
The former legislator expressed his support for the opposition and hinted at taking over leadership from Raila Odinga, the long-time opposition leader.
Why is Keter interested in succeeding Raila?
Keter stated that if the former premier is appointed chairman of the AU commission, he is willing to serve in any capacity, including running for president.
Keter emphasised his academic qualifications, demonstrating his eligibility for such a prestigious position and asserting his resilience in the face of political pressures.
“I see all our MPs and everyone here are supporting the government. As for me, I am the opposition. Raila is exiting the arena for the AU role, and I am already in his place. In fact, I have held it tightly now that he is out. Even if it means becoming the president, I will. You should not threaten us because if it is Kapsabet Boys High School, I went there, University of Nairobi I was there. I have everything,” claimed Keter.
The ex-Nandi Hills MP claimed that if given the opportunity, he would revolutionise the country, while also criticising the president for promoting agendas that do not benefit the country.
“Our president is a very good marketer, he can market anything. For those who want to eat from the government, let them do so. I will not join them because there is no job I am aiming to get because I believe we can transform this country. If you give me an opportunity I can do it without lies. We want to believe in the truth because it will set us free,” he added.
To demonstrate his preparedness, the politician criticised President William Ruto for sending Kenyan-trained nurses to Saudi Arabia and other foreign countries while the country’s health facilities are understaffed.
