ANC Sets the Record Straight on Reports of Mudavadi Wanting to Dissolve Party
The Amani National Congress (ANC) party refutes allegations suggesting its founder and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi’s intention to dissolve the party and join the ruling United Democratic Alliance Party (UDA).
According to ANC Director of Political Affairs Omulo Junior, Musalia’s remarks about ANC cooperating with the ruling party were misconstrued.
Omulo clarified that Musalia actually emphasized the necessity of unity and support for President William Ruto in executing his national agenda.
Omulo explained that during a speech in Bomet regarding political cooperation within the government, Musalia advocated for collective action to advance Ruto’s agenda without internal competition or sabotage.
He stressed the importance of political leaders taking responsibility to fulfill the promises made by the Kenya Kwanza coalition to the Kenyan people.
He emphasized Ruto’s advocacy for a strong political party grounded in socio-economic and political development principles.
Omulo also suggested that if the unlikely event of ANC dissolution were to occur, UDA should follow suit to establish a new political entity.
He cautioned that such a decision would require the consent of ANC members due to the party’s substantial support base.
In his remarks, former Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu announced his departure from the UDA party.
He cited his disillusionment with the party, alleging dishonesty among its leaders and members.
Waititu disclosed during a radio interview that he had been misled into joining Ruto’s camp ahead of the 2022 General Election.
