‘Ata walete nani wanaenda nyumbani’ – Sifuna claims Ruto will be a one-time president
Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna has persistently criticized President William Ruto’s policies, maintaining his stance.
Speaking on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, Sifuna asserted that Kenyan voters had regretted their choice in the August 2022 general elections and were eager to remove Ruto due to his failure to deliver on promises.
He further lambasted Ruto’s administration, claiming it lacked direction in fulfilling its responsibilities, suggesting that Ruto would not secure a second term.
As the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) secretary general, Sifuna highlighted the incompetence within the Kenya Kwanza administration, sparking discussions on potential successors to the current leadership.
“I have no doubt in my mind that Ruto is going to be a one-time president, I can assure you the people of Kenya are going to put a stop to this very terrible experiment they put themselves to in 2022, nawahakikishia kwa sababu kila mkenya ameona hawa watu hii kazi imewashinda. Ukiskia kule Central Kenya wanasema wanataka kubadilisha kikosi game haijafika minute 20 wanataka kupiga substitution, wanasema Gachagua wanaelewa kwa nini baba anamwita Gachietha kwa sababu amekua mzigo kwao pia,” Sifuna stated.
Moreover, the senator asserted that regardless of the government’s choice for presidential candidacy, the public would not support anyone affiliated with Ruto.
He went on to reassure Kenyans that the opposition would rescue them from the prevailing economic challenges by ensuring the implementation of reforms in the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to promote fairness.
Emphasizing that the reconstitution of the IEBC would bolster transparency in elections, he underscored the importance of thorough vetting of IEBC commissioners.
The senator also expressed confidence that the Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya coalition would emerge victorious in the election if the IEBC commissioners were appropriately scrutinized.
“For as long as we get the IEBC rights hao majamaa I can assure Hao majamaa sisi tunawaambia wanaenda nyumbani, walete nini, walete Waiguru ama walete nani wanenda nyumbani,” he added.
