Atwoli Speaks of Mudavadi’s Proposal to Dissolve ANC and Join UDA
In a recent interview with Citizen TV, Francis Atwoli, the secretary general of the Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU), commended Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi’s leadership abilities, describing him as “intelligent” and astute.
Atwoli reflected on his decision to endorse Mudavadi as the spokesperson of the Luhya community back on December 31, 2016, emphasizing that it was a well-considered move, not haphazard.
According to Atwoli, Mudavadi’s leadership is marked by strategic planning and calculated actions, evident in his collaboration with William Ruto in the 2022 elections, which proved successful.
Atwoli stressed the importance of having a leader in the western region who can strategize and collaborate effectively with other communities to pursue national leadership, rather than one who merely makes noise.
Highlighting Mudavadi’s role as a unifying figure, Atwoli praised his ability to work with other leaders to promote harmony within Western Kenya and across the country.
He emphasized the need for leaders who can devise coherent plans and navigate through challenges, noting Mudavadi’s aptitude in this regard, particularly in ensuring peace during elections.
Atwoli expressed support for Mudavadi’s decision to dissolve the African National Conference (ANC) and join the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), viewing it as a selfless act aimed at advancing the interests of the Luhya community.
He applauded Mudavadi’s vision for the future and the strategic guidance provided by his advisory team, underscoring the importance of forming a strong UDA party for effective governance, regardless of personal positions.
Contrary to speculations, Emuhaya MP Omboko Milemba, who also serves as the ANC party secretary general, dismissed the notion of ANC merging with UDA.
Milemba clarified that the party is gearing up for the 2027 General Election, focusing on selecting formidable candidates for elective positions.
