Azimio to join doctors in demonstrations – Kalonzo
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has indicated that Azimio leaders are willing to join doctors in public demonstrations in favor of their demands if the Kenya Kwanza administration fails to address their concerns.
“If there is a need to take to the streets and join the doctors’ protest, then we are ready because you cannot pay salaries to Cabinet Secretaries whilst doctors are being overlooked,” said Kalonzo.
He said that as Azimio, they support the doctors’ strike for their issues and questioned why Cabinet Secretaries should be paid more than doctors.
Kalonzo made these remarks in Mombasa after visiting Governor Abdulswamad Nassir during a two-day trip of Kwale County.
He was joined by Eugene Wamalwa, head of the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K).
“It is true that these people are the best minds in the country and should be treated with care. Therefore, the government must listen to them,” said Kalonzo.
Kalonzo advised Kenya’s Kwanza administration not to undermine the National Dialogue Committee (Nadco) findings, emphasizing that Azimio would continue to combat Kenyans’ concerns.
He thanked Nassir for his efforts to solve challenges impacting the people of Mombasa County.
“I want to thank the Mombasa governor for his help to the local residents and for being one of the pillars of Azimio in the country. Keep it up, governor,” said Kalonzo.
The former Vice President expressed disappointment that the Kenya Kwanza administration did not keep its electoral pledges and instead supplied counterfeit fertilisers to farmers.
“The distribution of counterfeit fertilisers to farmers is concerning. Kenyans are only seeing false promises,” said Kalonzo.
Kalonzo promised Kenyans that Azimio will continue to concentrate on the country’s concerns, and that the party remained stable.
Wamalwa criticized the Kenya Kwanza government’s tax hike on Kenyans and refuted Majority Leader Kimani Ichungwah’s assertion that the cost of living had lowered due to lower grain prices.
Wamalwa said that Azimio will not allow any games played by the Kenya Kwanza administration in picking commissioners for the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
