“Baba Loves Me” Defiant Jalas Maintains He Will Seek Re-Election on ODM Party Ticket
Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwuor, also known as Jalang’o, continues to affirm his affiliation with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.
Jalang’o’s remarks follow ODM leader Raila Odinga’s call for dissenting party members to step down and seek renewed support from the electorate.
Despite this, the first-term MP reiterated his allegiance to ODM, stating that he has consistently remained within the party and even continues to have contributions deducted for the Orange party.
He conveyed his assurance of being re-elected, expressing confidence that he would surpass all competitors during the ODM nominations.
“I am in ODM, and I’ve never left. You see, Baba said that if you think that you are man enough, go back and run. I am man enough. The question is, even if I had to resign today, there is no IEBC, there’s nobody to conduct the election. I believe and I would still run under ODM; that’s my party.
“That’s the party; I still pay monthly deductions. So, I am in ODM. If they want me to go back to the elections, I’ll go back. Then they call nominations again, then I beat all of them again under ODM, then I still become an ODM MP for Langata. I’ve never left. I am just working for the people of Langata,” Jalang’o stated.
Speaking about his relationship with the former prime minister, Jalas emphasized that they still maintain a close bond. He noted that unlike his critics, he has a direct line of communication with the ODM leader, mentioning that Raila promptly responds to his phone calls.
“I am not a prodigal son, Baba is my father. Number one, Baba loves me so much. There are people who talk, but they can not reach Baba. If I call Baba here, he’ll pick up because he knows this is my son,” Jalas said.
Jalang’o clarified his choice to oppose his party and align with Ruto.
Speaking at the funeral of Vitalis Omondi, the chairman of Lang’ata Roads and his chief agent, on Saturday, March 18, the lawmaker disclosed that he had undertaken a clandestine mission.
Jalang’o conveyed his resolve to unravel the mystery behind Ruto’s consistent electoral triumphs.
“I have gone to William Ruto’s side. But I have said that I have gone there to learn. I went to learn why this person (Ruto) has never lost any election,” Jalang’o said.
