Boni Khalwale Accuses Governor James Orengo of ‘Promoting Poverty’ in the Siaya County
Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has criticised Siaya Governor James Orengo for allegedly ‘promoting poverty’ in Siaya county.
Reacting to a post in which Orengo presided over the distribution of livestock to Siaya residents, Khalwale stated that such a move is intended to promote poverty rather than empower the people.
“Presided over distribution of 215 improved cattle breeds to various farmers at Ragegni Primary School North Uyoma. Agriculture remains the pillar for our economic, industrial and commercial transformation. I will ensure most of our resources go towards sectors and value chains that will change lives of people in the shortest time possible,” Orengo wrote.
Khalwale hit back saying: “My brother, sii kwa ubaya, but please stop promoting poverty. Support the farmers of Siaya to rear dairy cows.”
However, some Kenyans on social media defended the governor, claiming that the cows are good for meat and that, given rising beef prices, Siaya residents will benefit.
However, some people supported Khalwale’s advice, claiming that dairy cows are superior to those distributed by Orengo.
