Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria, along with his extended family, presented Azimio leader Raila Odinga with a goat in a symbolic gesture to mend fences.

Kuria, known for his previous acerbic remarks against Raila and his presidential aspirations, joined his family for a significant visit to Odinga’s residence in Karen.

This gesture, characterized as historic in the country’s political sphere, follows Kuria’s public announcement seeking forgiveness from Raila for his past verbal outbursts.

In a statement on Sunday, Kuria highlighted the visit as a demonstration of his support for Raila’s bid for the African Union Commission chairperson position.

He expressed gratitude for the warm reception by Mama Ida Odinga, emphasizing their shared hopes for Raila’s well-being and success in his endeavors.

During the visit, Kuria conveyed his perspectives on various African Union initiatives to Odinga, including the Africa Continental Free Trade Area and Agenda 2063.

Kuria emphasized the importance of discussing continental issues with Odinga, while disclosing details of their political reconciliation.

Kuria’s reconciliation efforts extend beyond his interaction with Raila.

He commended Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for advocating forgiveness and expressed his own apologies to those he had offended in the past, including Raila. He delivered this message of reconciliation during Mama Dorcas Muhihu’s burial ceremony in Nyandarua County.

The relationship between Kuria and Raila has been characterized by ups and downs, with Kuria once affirming their friendship outside of politics.

Despite occasional disagreements, Kuria emphasized the folly of considering them enemies, asserting the strength of their bond.

Kuria’s actions signify a broader narrative of national healing and reconciliation, particularly as Raila seeks continental support for his AUC job bid.

As Kuria reflects on past conflicts and extends olive branches, he calls for a collective focus on nation-building, echoing sentiments of unity and progress.
