Daddy Owen’s Mother Adds New Twist With Message to Charlene Ruto
Daddy Owen’s mom, Margaret Mwatia, reportedly conveyed a heartfelt message to Charlene Ruto, the daughter of President William Ruto, following Charlene’s visit to Daddy Owen’s residence in Eshieywe, Kakamega, on December 23, 2023.
During the introduction ceremony attended by Andrew Shiroko Shilenje, the Secretary of the Abatsotso Cultural Council of Elders, Margaret extended her blessings to Charlene Ruto.
“Charlene was invited the way we invite a woman who has joined our community as a wife.
“The message from the mother-in-law to the daughter-in-law was very clear…’ let your marriage life blossom and bring forth children,” Shilenje, the insider, claimed in the interview with the Standard’s Nairobian.
However, Andrew Shiroko Shilenje refrained from confirming the widespread speculation that Daddy Owen, the renowned artist behind “System ya Kapungala,” proposed to Charlene.
Nevertheless, he clarified that the customs observed during the ceremony, such as Daddy Owen’s mother welcoming Charlene and the exchange of gifts, strongly suggested a union.
Daddy Owen, who is currently separated from his wife, Farida Wambui, opted not to confirm whether he and Charlene were in a romantic relationship. Instead, he asserted that their connection was based on a business partnership and friendship.
“2023 was a good year! I thank GOD! I had so many highlights, but the climax, the pinnacle and the crowning moment came at the tail end of the year when Charlene Ruto visited my home in Eshieywe a.k.a Kakamega.”
“We celebrated with songs, dance and ululations! Abhashiere came with their best dancing shoes to whirl to the real Isikuti made from the tough “imbulu” skin! We ate various Abatsotso traditional delicacies. Ebhusang’ang’a village was happy. My mum was happy. She loves guests.. and the guests were happy as well!” Owen wrote on his social media pages.
Charlene Ruto was unavailable for comment, and as of now, the President’s daughter has not posted any pictures of the event on her social media platforms, mirroring Daddy Owen’s approach.
The photos posted by the well-known gospel artist depicted Charlene wearing a red top paired with a blue leso tied around her waist.
She was also seen dancing to Isikuti and accepting groundnuts in a pot. On December 25, 2023, Charlene shared a video featuring herself and Owen, formally known as Owen Mwatia, distributing shopping vouchers to Kenyans in matatus.
Charlene highlighted their observation that 70 percent of commuters were young people, emphasizing the significance of youth in shaping the future.
“Tumepatana na students na watu wanafanya kazi, watu wana hustle, so we have recorded and we will see how we can support some of them,” Charlene stated then.
