Governors Now Demand William Ruto to Sack CS Davis Chirchir Over Power Blackouts
A group of governors representing the broader Mt Kenya region is urging President William Ruto to dismiss Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir due to the persistent power outages.
Muthomi Njuki from Tharaka Nithi and Mutahi Kahiga from Nyeri are specifically calling on the president to take decisive action.
“I heard the other day that there will be electricity rationing. How can this happen when we have a lot of water in our dams? It is an irony. We should not get to a point like South Africa,” Njuki spoke at Chuka Stadium.
In Nyeri, at Dedan Kimathi Stadium, Mutahi Kahiga expressed a similar sentiment, advocating for the President to remove Cabinet Secretaries whom he perceives as failing the government. Kahiga emphasized the need for decisive action to address the perceived shortcomings in the administration.
“The other day I arrived in the county from abroad and was welcomed by fire outage. Such a CS should be sacked early in the morning,” said Kahiga.
