Herman Manyora’s to Step Away from Political Commentary Due to Mental Health Struggles
Veteran political analyst Herman Manyora recently revealed his decision to step away from the realm of political analysis, citing the personal toll it has taken on his mental health.
With a wealth of experience in the field, Manyora expressed his intent to distance himself from his role due to the profound impact of the issues he has been dissecting over the years.
Speaking in a heartfelt video that circulated on TikTok, he candidly shared, “One of the reasons I am leaving this game; I was almost going into depression because we talk about some of these issues until we get affected, and my health is better than anything as this country can send you to depression.”
Manyora emphasized the emotional strain of delving into the intricate and often distressing matters that affect the nation.
“Immersing oneself in the issues affecting this country can easily drive a person to insanity,” he disclosed. His decision stemmed from a concern for his well-being, as he underscored the gravity of the toll such deep involvement in political analysis can take on an individual.
Expressing concerns that he had previously shared with Governor James Orengo, Manyora touched upon his distress regarding certain decisions made by prominent figures.
“Even as a follower, I even told Orengo, that if you see some of the things that Raila is doing, you are left with many questions. Let’s not go there,” he added before halting himself from further delving into sentiments about the actions of the Azimio leader that had left him questioning.
Additionally, in August 2023, Manyora posed a direct inquiry to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga regarding claims that President William Ruto had purportedly offered financial incentives to silence anti-government protests.
On Twitter, Manyora demanded transparency, asking, “Baba Raila Odinga, how much money did William Ruto give you to buy your silence? We are coming for our share.”
Herman Manyora’s departure from the sphere of political commentary highlights the immense toll that prolonged exposure to politically charged issues can have on an individual’s mental health, shedding light on the importance of self-care amidst the rigorous landscape of political analysis.
