I Fuel My Cars, Where Are My Perks? Uhuru Fires At Ruto Over Denied Retirement Benefits

In a startling revelation, the retired President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, has fired a stern warning at the current administration, led by President William Ruto, over the non-fulfillment of his retirement benefits.

Speaking through his spokesperson Kanze Dena, Kenyatta highlighted a series of grievances regarding the lack of allocated funds, inadequate office facilities, and unmet promises regarding vehicles and international travel.

The retired President’s office, according to Dena, has been left to fend for itself, with a significant disparity between the allocated budget and actual spending.

Despite the provision of some allowances and a gratuity, Kenyatta’s office is yet to receive the full spectrum of benefits entitled to a retired head of state.

Dena emphasized the dire state of affairs, pointing out that the promised budgetary allocations have not materialized, leaving the office with a pending budget of approximately Ksh.1 billion.

Moreover, the office space provided to Kenyatta has not been adequately furnished or maintained, relying instead on the goodwill of the late President Mwai Kibaki.

Furthermore, the issue extends to the promised vehicles, with Kenyatta receiving used vehicles instead of the new ones stipulated by the Presidential Retirement Benefits Act.

The cancellation of fuel cards by the government has also added to the former President’s woes, forcing him to cover the expenses for fueling his cars personally.

Dena’s statements come in response to claims by State House and government spokespersons that Kenyatta’s office has been adequately catered to.

However, her assertions shed light on the stark reality faced by the retired President and his office, urging the government to address these longstanding grievances promptly.
