“Ignorance” – KMPDU Boss Slams Sakaja for Claiming Doctors’ Union is Unconstitutional
Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists, and Dentists’ Union (KMPDU) Secretary General Davji Atellah has criticised Governor Johnson Sakaja for claiming that the doctors’ union was unconstitutional.
Speaking at a church service on Sunday, March 24, Sakaja criticised doctors within his administration who were involved in the current strike.
Sakaja expressed his anger with county doctors, standing in concern with the national union and calling the KMPDU unlawful.
The governor questioned why they were on strike, yet the county had addressed the most of their problems.
“That doctors’ national forum (KMPDU) is not even constitutional. Because you strike against your employer, and your employers are counties, let them come, every county should have an agreement with the local doctors, and we, as Nairobi we, are ready,” Sakaja said.
However, in a fast reaction, the KMPDU boss criticised the city hall chief’ views on the validity of the doctors’ union.
Atellah stated that Sakaja was speaking out of ignorance, and that leaders in public office should speak the truth.
“Ignorance is not a virtue. Especially for leaders entrusted with public office. They ought to speak facts, not mere rhetoric. In the realm of politics and everyday existence, ignorance should never be celebrated!”
