In Anticipation: Government Spokesman Teases Major Announcement Today at 3:00 PM
Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura has informed the public to anticipate a significant decline in fuel prices, with the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Agency (EPRA) scheduled to unveil the monthly pricing adjustments.
In a statement issued on Sunday, April 14, Mwaura highlighted that the impending announcement, slated for 3 pm, is poised to alleviate the burdensome cost of living experienced by Kenyans.
“A major announcement on the reduction of fuel prices shall be made today at 3:00 pm by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Agency (EPRA)! This will go a long way in reducing the cost of living in the country for hustlers and Kenyans at large,” Mwaura affirmed.
The forthcoming prices are expected to reflect the robust performance of the Kenyan shilling against the dollar and a decline in global fuel prices witnessed last month.
During the previous review conducted on March 14, EPRA effected a reduction in the prices of Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene by Sh7.21, Sh5.09, and Sh4.49 per litre, respectively. This marked the most substantial price drop since May 2020.
“In the period under review, the maximum allowed petroleum pump price for Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene decreased by KShs.7.21 per litre, KShs.5.09 per litre, and KShs.4.49 per litre respectively,” EPRA declared on March 14.
Presently, Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene are retailing at Sh199.15, Sh190.38, and Sh188.74 in Nairobi. Meanwhile, in Mombasa, Super Petrol is priced at Sh195.97, Diesel at Sh187.21, and Kerosene at Sh185.58.
