Jacque Maribe’s job saga takes fresh twist as CS Kuria breaks silence & heads to DCI

Moses Kuria, the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, has issued a response on the reports of Jacque Maribe, a former journalist from Citizen TV, being nominated to lead communications in his ministry.

Following the denial by the Public Service Commission, it was clarified that they were not involved in the recruitment process for the position.

CS Kuria refuted any communication with Nation Media Group over Maribe’s appointment and presented evidence of a manipulated text message that falsely portrayed his involvement in the matter.

The Cabinet Secretary also stated his intention to visit the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in order to file a report regarding the suspected act of forgery.

“Contrary to reports by the Nation, I have never been interviewed by the media house nor made any comment nor announcement about Jacque Maribe. I have challenged CEO Stephen Gitagama to provide evidence from one Mwangi Muiruri who wrote the article.

“I have since alerted Mr Gitagama that the said screenshot is a forgery and I will be at DCI Headquarters at 9.30 a.m. tomorrow to report the Nation Media Group and the reporter of fraud and forgery,” he said.

CS Kuria asserted that the text, which was reported to be fake, made an accusation that the Public Service Commission was engaged in Maribe’s nomination.

Nevertheless, although publicly criticising the aforementioned paragraph, the ex-MP has supported Jacque by asserting their 16-year friendship.

“Meanwhile I stand with Jacque Maribe, my friend for the last 16 years and I will stand with her just like I stood with Gov Kawira Mwangaza in the wake of unjustified bullying,” he added.

On Thursday, the Public Service Commission rejected the appointment of Jacque Maribe as the Head of Communication in the Ministry of Public Service, Performance, and Delivery Management.

In a recent news statement on Thursday, March 14, Ambassador Anthony Muchiri, the chairperson of the PSC, explicitly said that the commission has neither made an appointment for Maribe nor received any request to recruit her for the post.

He emphasised, “For the record, the said position will be filled through a competitive recruitment process should a vacancy arise.”

Following the announcement of Maribe’s appointment, a heated discussion erupted on social media.

Jacque Maribe was subsequently observed at an occasion where CS Kuria was present, which further raised inquiries over her involvement.
