Kalonzo Breaks Silence on Creation of Handshake Govt With Ruto
Kalonzo Musyoka, the leader of the Wiper party, stated on Sunday, March 10, that he will not join President William Ruto’s cabinet, despite a recent agreement between the opposition and the Head of State.
During his appearance on Inooro TV, Kalonzo clarified that the rumours of a National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) handshake government were baseless.
The ex-vice president asserted that NADCO had devised a blueprint for ensuring stability inside the nation. However, this does not imply that the opposition is seeking a share of governmental power.
“There is no NADCO government because there is a lot to be done. Without that, there can be no working together,” he explained.
“I do not want to be in the government. I am ready to be in the opposition to fight for Kenyans.”
Kalonzo clarified that his current objective was to stage a protest against Ruto’s administration with the intention of removing the fifth president of Kenya from power.
The Wiper Leader was cautious that Raila and Ruto may have divergent agreements that were not in accordance with his political agenda.
The individual clarified that he had completed the NADCO report and expressed that if Raila and Ruto did not supervise its execution, he would not accept any responsibility for any failures.
“I have given them the NADCO report and if they (Raila and Ruto) destroy it, it is up to them,” he explained.
He acknowledged that Raila and Ruto were the ones who proposed the establishment of a dialogue group and appointed him to co-chair the team with National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichungw’ah.
Kalonzo restated his prior statement that it was unnecessary to bring the 8 Bills formulated by the NADCO committee to public involvement.
The crux of his argument was that the Bills originated from recommendations put forth by Kenyans, therefore rendering a second round of public participation unnecessary.
