Kenyans Offered Jobs by CS Kuria Left Stranded as Company Denies Agreeing to Deal
Hundreds of young Kenyans find themselves in a state of uncertainty after being left stranded following conflicting messages regarding their internship placements scheduled for Tuesday, March 5.
These individuals were part of the National Graduate Internship Programme (WANAGENZI) initiated by Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria.
The programme, aimed at placing young graduates in various private companies, was announced by CS Kuria during a meeting with the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) on February 28.
However, despite receiving congratulatory messages and invitations to the programme’s flagging off on March 4, many interns discovered that the companies were unaware of their impending arrival.
One company issued a press statement clarifying that they had not been consulted nor were they offering any internship positions under WANAGENZI.
Despite being associated with KEPSA, the company emphasized its lack of engagement in internship discussions and disassociated itself from the programme.
This confusion arises despite the interns receiving messages through official government channels and their details being uploaded to the WANAGENZI platform.
As of now, CS Kuria has yet to address the plight of the stranded interns or provide clarity on the next steps.
