Kimani Ngunjiri reveals UDA’s dirty deals days after leaving the party.
Kimani Ngunjiri, a former Bahati Member of Parliament, has continued to reveal dirty dealings inside the governing party, almost a week after publicly declaring his resignation from the United Democratic Alliance.
The former MP claimed at a news conference in Nakuru on Sunday that several well-known party members were involved in the distribution of fake fertilizer.
He further claimed that several UDA officials were involved in land-grabbing incidents throughout the country, including in Nakuru, his birthplace.
Ngunjiri remarked that there were obvious concerns in Nakuru County, noting that the party looked to be under the influence of particular people.
He voiced worry about the consequences of these issues and announced his intention to resign, stating, “If we stick with one party, UDA, the environment will become very hostile.”
The former MP cited the distribution of bogus fertilizer and land grabs as examples of problems caused by party members.
He hinted at his desire to join another party within the Kenya Kwanza Coalition, citing UDA’s involvement and the need for a less difficult political body.
Ngunjiri underlined the necessity of choosing a party within the coalition with the fewest disputes in Nakuru, expressing his desire for peace. He remarked, “Our government has almost 18 parties that came together to form a coalition. I saw that I should leave the UDA party to those it belongs to.”
On Wednesday, Ngunjiri openly quit his UDA membership, claiming that the party had deceived its committed members.
He proclaimed, “I want to say in this media and for everybody in Kenya to hear me, I am not in UDA. I will never wear yellow.” He accused the party of favoritism, alleging that despite his efforts for UDA, he was passed up for a senior position in favor of someone from another party.
