Kipchumba Murkomen Speaks After Being Involved in Helicopter Accident
Kipchumba Murkomen, the Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport, has spoken to the public after a helicopter crash involving a privately owned helicopter that he was aboard.
The occurrence took place during the aircraft’s ascent near Mwachon, Baringo county, on Saturday morning. The individual characterised it as a “minor incident.”
Murkomen, in a post on his X account, reassured Kenyans that all individuals on board, including Caleb Kositany, the chairman of the Kenya Airports Authority board, emerged without any injuries.
The two officials were on their way to Nyatike, Migori county, to express their condolences to KAA Managing Director Henry Ogoye, who just experienced the loss of his mother.
“We had a small mishap, and we thank God we are safe. Arrived safely in Nyatike, Migori county with the chairman Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) to condole with our KAA MD Henry Ogoye who lost his loving mother,” Murkomen stated.
The privately-owned helicopter, bearing the registration number 5Y-PKI, was chartered by Murkomen and Kositany for their transportation requirements.
Law enforcement was summoned to the location in order to safeguard the impaired helicopter, which incurred damage to its landing gear while attempting to take off.
The authorities are anticipated to carry out a comprehensive inquiry into the circumstances behind the catastrophe.
Murkomen conveyed appreciation for the concerns, prayers, and well-wishes sent by Kenyans at this difficult period.
