Millicent Omanga reacts to claims of receiving salary for the non-existent (CAS) position
On Monday, Millicent Omanga, a former nominated senator, responded to allegations that she was paid a salary for a Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) position that didn’t actually exist, according to claims initially made by Robert Alai, a contentious blogger turned politician.
Alai asserted that Omanga, along with other former nominated CASs, had been receiving salaries despite the position being deemed unconstitutional.
Alai further criticized President William Ruto for endorsing these appointments despite their lack of constitutional recognition.
“Millicent Omanga went for Ksh 700,000 pay from State House on Friday. Hello President @WilliamsRuto , why are people employed as CAS and being paid illegally in cash from State House while the courts ruled that the position is unconstitutional?” Alai posed.
He additionally urged the government to adhere to the law without resorting to shortcuts or bypassing legal processes.
“Can we please operate within the law? What’s so hard in just obeying the law? Why the lawlessness?” Alai posed.
In her rebuttal, Omanga asserted that the rumors were false and a significant distortion of reality.
She went on to suggest that if the Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly (MCA) had any information about the supposed money being collected, they should notify her.
“Ndugu @RobertAlai, this is untrue and a fatal misrepresentation of facts. Nonetheless, if you hear when and where this money is being collected, please alert me. Nitakuchotea kakitu,” she wrote.
