Moses Kuria now remains The Only Cs without prestigious EGH Title Award

The current member of President William Ruto’s Cabinet who has not received the esteemed Elder of the Order Golden Heart of Kenya (EGH), the highest state accolade in Kenya, is Moses Kuria, who serves as the Secretary of the Public Service Cabinet.

President Ruto recently bestowed the position of Cabinet Secretary to Njuguna Ndung’u (Treasury), Aisha Jumwa (Gender, Culture), Florence Bore (Labour), and Alice Wahome (Lands) in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the nation.

The EGH award is bestowed to acknowledge exceptional contributions made to the nation in many roles and duties.

The current roster of recipients includes ministers, Members of Parliament (MPs), governors, and athletes.

During the 60th Jamhuri Day celebrations in December of the previous year, President Ruto bestowed a comparable accolade onto nine cabinet secretaries.

As per the National Honours Act of 2014, the accolade is bestowed upon individuals of Kenyan nationality who have demonstrated commendable attributes, conduct, accomplishments, and selflessness in their dedication to the nation.

Additionally, this accolade is bestowed upon those who have made significant contributions to the nation across various domains, including media, business, economics, social sciences, and other fields.

Additionally, this distinction is bestowed for state officials who have demonstrated exceptional service to the national and county governments, executive, judicial, legislature, as well as independent agencies and institutions.

The ex-Member of Parliament for Gatundu South has been involved in several issues, encompassing criticisms of institutions such as the media and other government officials, notably Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Mr. Kuria’s relocation from the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry to the Ministry of Public Service Performance and Delivery occurred in October of the previous year.

Mr Kuria, who was not included in the aforementioned list, took to the X platform (previously known as Twitter) to articulate his dissatisfaction by sharing a photograph of the gazette notice featuring the names of the individuals who were recognised, alongside a distinct image of the Office of the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

He accompanied the image with the caption, “We shall be there no matter what.”

Without delay, he proceeded to the X platform to upload a local song and a photograph of Mr. Gachagua, expressing, “If you were agitated by me when I was handling one Ministry now be prepared for even more discomfort.”

The statements he has made on his official social media platforms have consistently resulted in negative consequences.

In July of the previous year, Katherine Tai, the United States Trade Representative, postponed two planned meetings with Mr. Kuria, a member of the country, in order to address trade relations. This decision was prompted by Mr. Kuria’s objectionable comments directed towards institutions such as the media and individuals.

Mr. Kuria was reassigned to the Public Service Ministry in October.
