MP Peter Salasya allegedly kicks and punches students of St Gabriel’s Isongo secondary school for yelling at him

Mumias East Member of Parliament, Peter Salasya, found himself in another altercation during a meeting convened yesterday to address a conflict at a secondary school within his constituency.

In the midst of the disturbance, it is reported that the legislator physically engaged with students from St Gabriel’s Isongo secondary school, allegedly kicking and punching them in response to their vocal expressions directed at him during the meeting aimed at restoring order in the troubled institution.

Salasya had arrived at the school while a Catholic priest, representing the sponsor, was addressing students and parents, and insisted on having an opportunity to speak as well.

Physical duel

Upon being handed the microphone, Salasya proceeded to criticize and admonish his audience, specifically targeting the local MCA, Peter Walunya.

He went on to openly challenge Walunya to a physical confrontation, attributing it to the MCA’s involvement in taking legal action against him.

‘I’m here to resolve this matter once and for all. And I’m now directing everyone in this compound, if you’re not a student or teacher to leave,” he demanded.

He insisted that Walunya, present at the meeting, issue an apology for taking him to court on assault charges. Despite Walunya maintaining composure, the MP became further incensed, attempting to charge at him. However, parents and students intervened, restraining the MP amid their disapproval.

Infuriated by the negative reception, the MP and his aides abruptly left the meeting, resorting to physically assaulting some students as they exited the school compound.

The meeting, organized by the education office and the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), aimed to restore order at the school.

The gathering was prompted by the recent expulsion of a former principal, which resulted from parental dissatisfaction with the school’s poor performance in the KCSE examination earlier in the week.
