Nairobi Politician bets KSh 10m for Raila Odinga to lose AU Seat
Steve Mbogo, a politician, has asserted that Raila Odinga, the head of the ODM party, will be unsuccessful in his attempt to be elected as the chairman of the Africa Union Commission.
Mbogo made a commitment on Thursday, March 14, to provide KSh 10 million to Raila if he successfully secures the AUC seat.
Mbogo expressed doubt that the leader of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party can succeed in securing the continental position.
“Today I want to make a pledge and I want to be serious. Today, in the holy month of Ramadhan, If Raila gets the AU seat, I will give him 10 million. I am saying so because I am 100% sure that Raila will not clinch that seat,” Mbogo said.
The urban politician alleged that the Kenya Kwanza government and individuals associated with the ODM leader were deceiving him over the likelihood of securing the position.
Mbogo argues that Raila is at a disadvantage due to the Kenyan government’s alignment with Western countries, while many African nations lean towards either Russia or China.
He contended that Raila would face difficulty in securing votes from the Francophone countries, which possess a substantial voting bloc.
“For you to clinch that seat you need a minimum 2/3 of the votes. Approximatley 49 out of 54 countries today are pro-Russian, pro-china and all this countries are not going to support a candidate from a country that is pro-west.
For you to convince the anglo-phones, will be abit easy, but when we talk abot te southern part an the western, the francophnes who have fully retarieated form the west, believe me they are not going to vote for you,” he stated.
Mbogo alleged that the current Kenyan government, under the Kenya Kwanza administration, intends to occupy Raila with the task of campaigning for the African Union (AU) position. However, his failure will ultimately contribute to the downfall of Azimio la Umoja.
“This people are lying to you…and the reality is that they are lying to you or you are part of the game. They will keep you busy for the next one year, you will be busy campaigning and when you lose they will be the same people will come and tell Kenyans that they tried to help you win but it was hard,” he added.
