Nairobi Politician Sentenced to 30 Years Imprisonment In Murder Case

Former Riruta Member of County Assembly, Samuel Njoroge, received a 30-year prison sentence on Friday for the murder of his ex-wife, Lucy Njambi.

On April 5, Njoroge was convicted for his role in Njambi’s murder, which dates back to 2018 when she was kidnapped and sexually assaulted.

During the trial at a Kiambu court, Justice Joel Ngugi delivered the verdict, stating that Njoroge, along with two other suspects, were found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

Justice Ngugi highlighted that despite minor inconsistencies in the evidence presented, the prosecution’s case, supported by 38 witnesses, remained compelling.

In chilling detail, it was revealed that Njambi had been abducted, sexually assaulted, and subjected to acid before being left for dead.

After the brutal attack, Njambi was discovered in a coffee plantation, where a passer-by found her and rushed her to the hospital. Tragically, despite efforts to save her, she succumbed to her injuries at Kenyatta National Hospital.

In her final moments, Njambi had reportedly identified her estranged husband as the mastermind behind the assault, as detailed in the prosecution’s report.

Present during the sentencing was Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba, among others.

The judgment underscores the gravity of the crime and serves as a reminder of the importance of justice in cases of violence against women.
