No pain without gain- Wetangula tells Kenyans to back Ruto
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has urged Kenyans to fully support President William Ruto’s administration, saying that things will improve with time.
He was speaking in Bura town, Fafi constituency, where he was the chief guest for the CDF’s flag-off and inspection of several projects.
Wetang’ula stated that President Ruto was the right leader to take the country to new heights, and that he was committed to developing the country fairly, equitably, and equally.
President Ruto’s administration has come under fire from some Kenyans who are concerned about several tax measures that his administration has implemented.
However, Wetangula believes that instead of criticising Ruto’s administration, people should rally behind him so that he can transform the country.
“I have always said that there is no change without pain. It comes with challenges. So let’s face these challenges so that we can together transform our country,” he said.
He urged residents of the area plagued by insecurity to work closely with the security forces to root out the bad elements hiding among them.
Regarding Raila’s candidature for the African Union (AU) Commission chairmanship, Wetangula stated that the country would fully support him and that he was up to the task.
Wetangula believes that Opposition Leader Raila Odinga should be given full support in his bid for the presidency as a consolation for his long struggle.
The ODM leader has run for the country’s top job five times, the most recent being in 2022, when he finished second to President William Ruto.
Wetangula, who was a close ally of the opposition leader in the previous two elections, supporting his Presidential candidature twice, in 2013 and 2017, before deciding to support Ruto, believes Raila has the potential to lead Africa.
“We are going to support him unequivocally and unconditionally to go and become the chairman of the African Union so that he flies our country’s flag high. He has contributed immensely in various sectors in our country so let him go and do it for Africa.”
