ODM Party Issues Update After Losing Facebook Page To Hackers
The Orange Democratic Party (ODM)’s verified Facebook page has been hacked.
In a statement issued via X on Saturday, March 23 evening, the Raila Odinga-led party stated that hackers gained possession of the page on Friday, March 2022, and are unable to access it.
However, the opposition party told its supporters that it is working around the clock to regain the Facebook Page, which has over 600,000 followers. The party also stated that it has asked authorities to assist in recovering the page.
“This is to inform you that last night (Friday 22nd March) we lost our popular party Facebook Page to hackers. The page cannot be accessed. However, we are working round the clock to recover it. We have contacted the relevant authorities to assist us in the process to recover it,” ODM said.
This comes after Laikipia East Member of Parliament Mwangi Kiunjuri revealed that he lost his verified Facebook page to hackers.
In a statement, the former CS stated that he lost complete control of the page on November 14, 2023, and that efforts to retrieve it had been unsuccessful.
“To All of You My Followers & Friends, my attention has been drawn to unusual posts appearing on a Facebook Account that I owned until 5 (Five) months ago – Hon. Mwangi Kiunjuri. It was hacked on Nov 14, 2023. All efforts to recover it have so far, regrettably been unsuccessful,” Kiunjuri stated.
The Laikipia East MP’s Facebook has been publishing troubling content, such as horse mating, international fishing activities, and other commercial activities unrelated to Kenya or Africa.
