ODM Supporters Will Vote Ruto Over Kalonzo if Raila Isn’t on the Ballot – Robert Alai
Raila Odinga’s bid to succeed Moussa Faki as Chairman of the African Union Commission has elicited mixed reactions from ODM politicians in the Azimio coalition.
Despite claims of unwavering unity from Azimio co-principals and ODM leaders in the absence of their chief, some of their supporters remain sceptical.
Kileleshwa County Assembly Member Robert Alai believes Raila’s potential resignation from Kenya’s political scene will serve as a catalyst for party division.
Alai says ODM Supporters will vote Ruto Over Kalonzo if Raila Isn’t on the Ballot
According to Alai, a significant number of ODM members may switch allegiances to the ruling Kenya Kwanza coalition, supporting President William Ruto in the upcoming election.
Furthermore, Alai claims that if the veteran opposition leader withdraws from the 2027 elections, a significant number of his supporters will choose not to vote for his endorsed candidate in the presidential race.
“Let me tell you with a lot of certainty. If Baba is not in the race in 2027 and given between Kalonzo and Ruto, ODM supporters would easily go for Ruto. ODM supporters would trust Ruto over Kalonzo any day,” he said.
