President Ruto’s Son George Ruto Takes Action After Expose of Flouting Traffic Rules
George Ruto, son of President William Ruto, has succumbed to public pressure and surrendered his high-profile matatu, known as Money Fest, for inspection by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).
The decision comes after widespread outcry over the vehicle’s compliance with traffic regulations.
Famous disc jockey VDJ Jones shared a video of the matatu at the NTSA’s Likoni Road Inspection Centre. The video showcased the eye-catching, multi-million shilling matatu queuing alongside other public service vehicles for inspection.
The DJ commented, “Ever heard of the power of the people? The people have forced Money Fest to undergo inspection. Reversing in a roundabout is over. It has to be in a Sacco. It is getting inspected. Crucial.”

The matatu stirred controversy earlier this month after reports surfaced that it was not registered with any Sacco, a requirement for public service vehicles, and lacked the mandatory certification from NTSA. Its compliance status was further questioned following allegations of flouting traffic rules.
The spotlight on Money Fest intensified when it was revealed that George Ruto owned the matatu. This connection drew considerable attention, with many scrutinizing its operations and regulatory adherence.
In response to the backlash, Money Fest’s driver took to social media platform X to defend George Ruto.
The driver explained that the matatu was financed through a bank loan and accused critics of spreading falsehoods about its acquisition and registration.
“George has a right to engage in the matatu business,” the driver asserted, emphasizing that George should not be criticized simply for being the president’s son. He highlighted that the matatu industry plays a significant role in employing the youth and that the Money Fest matatu benefits a chain of at least 100 people.
The public’s insistence on regulatory compliance underscores the importance of adhering to traffic laws, regardless of one’s status or connections.
George Ruto’s decision to submit Money Fest for NTSA inspection is seen as a positive step towards ensuring the matatu’s adherence to safety and operational standards.
The move also reflects the growing influence of public opinion in holding individuals and businesses accountable for their actions.
