Raila Comments on Junet’s ODM Loyalty Following Absence From Events
Raila Odinga, the leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party, has voiced support for Junet Mohammed, the Member of Parliament for Suna East, stating that Junet is still dedicated to the party.
Despite facing criticism from certain ODM members who claim that Junet has neglected his duties and party responsibilities, Raila reassured on Tuesday that Junet’s loyalty to the party remains steadfast.
Some discontented party members had previously expressed their intention to remove Junet from his position as the Director of Campaigns.
“Junet is not going anywhere. He is in the ODM party to stay. It is pure propaganda from the media,” he said during the party’s recruitment drive in Tana River.
Rumors of escalating tensions within the opposition party emerged following the plan to oust Junet, leading Raila Odinga to address the situation.
He drew a parallel between internal conflicts and the commonplace challenges encountered in any marriage.
“Just like in any marriage, there will always be conflicts. There is no cause for alarm,” he said.
Since the unsuccessful 2022 election bid by the Azimio coalition for the presidency, Junet, a steadfast supporter of Raila Odinga, has notably kept a low profile.
In the lead-up to the polls, he played a pivotal role as Raila’s primary strategist, taking charge of campaign initiatives across the country.
However, in the aftermath of the election results, where Raila lost to President William Ruto, Junet has conspicuously refrained from media appearances and is absent from opposition coalition activities.
