Rowdy Youths Storm UDA Office in Siaya, Deface It Using Dirt and Mud
The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has suffered losses in its attempt to penetrate Azimio leader Raila Odinga’s Nyanza electoral stronghold.
The most recent opposition has occurred in Raila’s Bondo backyard, where raucous young people have vandalised the party’s the main office.
Aber Dundee, a former Siaya women representative hopeful who hired and painted the office, condemned the acts, calling them counterproductive to the country’s democratic development.
Dundee condemned the individuals’ activities, calling it “intolerant politics,” and stated that they should be allowed to establish their party without intervention.
“This is totally wrong. The time for politics has passed, and nobody is involved in politics now, we should be allowed to organise ourselves without any interference,” she complained.
Dundee said that she was initially warned by an unknown female lawmaker regarding her plans to launch the office in the region.
The former Siaya MP candidate claimed the lady swore to deal with her, wondering whether her differing viewpoint on matters was wrong.
“She promised to deal with me. Does it mean we are intolerant to different opinions?” she posed.
UDA offices in Nyanza suffer same fate
Previously, a video showing Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party members torching the UDA party office in Siaya went viral.
Standard Digital uploaded a brief video clip showing demonstrators barricading a road with iron sheets.
However, other demonstrators seemed to remove some of the iron sheets, the origins of which are unknown.
Similar to the looting that occurred when a boisterous mob raided UDA headquarters in Kisumu, the teenagers intimidated everyone inside the compound before setting it on fire.
