Ruto appoints Francis Muthaura, Charles Nyachae to State jobs
President William Ruto has initiated a series of important appointments in the field of education, with the notable announcement being the appointment of experienced leader Francis Muthaura as the new Chancellor of Kenyatta University.
According to a gazette notice dated January 10, 2024, President Ruto utilized his authority under the Universities Act to designate Muthaura to the esteemed five-year position. Muthaura is set to officially assume his responsibilities on January 12, 2024.
The selection of Francis Muthaura as the new Chancellor of Kenyatta University marks a significant turning point for the institution, which stands as one of Kenya’s prominent academic establishments.
Muthaura’s extensive background in public service, finance, and education is anticipated to contribute greatly to the university’s endeavors in aligning with strategic priorities and maintaining its status as a premier educational center.
However, the reshaping of the education sector extends beyond Muthaura’s appointment.
President Ruto has also revealed the appointment of Charles Nyachae as the new chairperson of the Council of Kenya School of Government, effective January 24, 2024. Nyachae is slated to serve in this capacity until July 12, 2025, succeeding Njoki Kahiga.
Furthermore, in an additional development, Cabinet Secretary for Education Ezekiel Machogu has named Winnie Wangui Mwaito as a member of the Council of Karatina University for a term of three years, commencing on January 19, 2024.
