Ruto’s Ambassadorial Nominee for Ghana Rejects Role Offer
Vincent Mogaka Kemosi announced on Tuesday, April 9, that he would not accept the nomination as Kenyan High Commissioner to Accra, Ghana.
Originally scheduled for vetting by Parliament on Tuesday, Kemosi conveyed his decision to decline the position in a letter addressed to the Clerk of the National Assembly.
In his communication, the former Member of Parliament for West Mugirango attributed family matters as the rationale behind rejecting the assignment.
He expressed gratitude for the invitation to appear before the Departmental Committee on Defence Intelligence and Foreign Relations, yet clarified his inability to do so due to personal and pressing family issues.
Mogaka emphasized that these circumstances hindered him from assuming the role of High Commissioner to Ghana. Additionally, he indicated that, to expedite proceedings for the vetting committee, he would not physically attend the vetting exercise at Parliament Buildings.
Accepting his decision, the National Assembly Committee on Defence Intelligence and Foreign Relations proceeded to vet other ambassadors and high commissioners nominated by President William Ruto.
However, Mogaka did not disclose whether he had communicated his rejection of the assignment to President Ruto.
President Ruto nominated Vincent Mogaka Kemosi as Kenya’s High Commissioner to Ghana on March 8.
Mogaka, who had previously lost his parliamentary seat in West Mugirango in 2022 while contesting on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket, was appointed as Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) under the Ministry of Investments, Trade, and Industry in March 2023.
Despite taking the oath for the office, he refrained from assuming his CAS position following a court ruling that declared the entire process of nominating CASs unconstitutional.
