Sakaja Unveils Proposal to Name Hospital After Rachel Ruto
On Thursday, April 4, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja disclosed plans to rename Mutuini Hospital in Dagoretti South after First Lady Rachel Ruto.
The Governor highlighted the imminent change when giving his State of the County speech to the Nairobi County Assembly, where he outlined the improvements his government has implemented in hospitals around the Capital.
“The C.E.O of Mutuini Hospital, soon to be renamed Mama Rachel Ruto Hospital, is Dr Wanda,” stated Sakaja
However, he did not specify when the name will be legally changed.
He noted that his administration has changed the governing systems of the hospitals.
This is one of the improvements advocated by a taskforce formed during the first 60 days of his administration.
Sakaja stated that the taskforce was made up of CEOs from several renowned businesses who would advise the country on how to make better judgments.
Furthermore, Sakaja said that as part of the changes, his administration reformed the boards of all hospitals in an effort to bring in new leadership.
The Governor went on to explain that the country’s health requirements were complicated since Nairobi’s hospitals serviced five nations in the area, requiring the changes.
According to previous reports, the facility was anticipated to get a makeover before being renamed.
In terms of medical changes, Sakaja revealed that the first Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of its sort would be established at Mbagathi Hospital Nairobi in 2023.
Furthermore, it has been confirmed that the county has established an eye unit at Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital.
