Section Of LSK Lawyers Distance Themselves From Next Week’s Planned Demos
A group of attorneys affiliated with the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has separated themselves from the upcoming protests against President William Ruto’s remarks about corruption in the Judiciary.
lawyers, choosing to remain anonymous, expressed disagreement with the comments made by the LSK President, Eric Theuri, on this matter.
“We passionately beseech our colleagues to abandon the perilous path. Let no one mislead you to sacrifice the interests of the legal fraternity at the altar of partisan political course,” they stated.
They underscored their commitment to a thorough examination of corruption allegations within the Judiciary to uphold accountability. In contrast to Theuri’s call for nationwide peaceful demonstrations on Wednesday, aimed at demonstrating support for judicial independence in response to President Ruto’s defiance of court orders, these lawyers opted for a more measured approach.
President Ruto, despite facing criticism for his comments, remains steadfast in his belief that certain elements within the Judiciary are opposing him, and he is resolute in removing them from the system.
