TIFA Breaks Silence on Poll Survey Showing Peter Kenneth More Popular than Gachagua
Trends and Insights For Africa (TIFA) have denounced a survey that purported to show former Gitanga MP Peter Kenneth as more popular than Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
According to the fake poll, Kenneth emerged as the most preferred political leader in Murang’a County with 43.5%, followed by Muhoho Kenyatta with 26.1%.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro accounted for 18.7% and 11.7%, respectively.
The poll also indicated Kenneth as the most popular politician in Mt. Kenya at 32.4%, Muhoho at 25.7%, Gachagua at 24.3%, and 17.6% undecided.
TIFA stated that the results were fake and cautioned against being misled. They directed individuals to visit their official website for authentic polls at tifaresearch.com.
Concerns over the succession of the region have recently arisen among leaders and residents of Central. Members aligned with the DP consider him as the mountain’s leader.
Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga asserted, “By the virtue of his position, he is the leader of the mountain.
Any other thought is farfetched.” However, some regional members criticized Gachagua for failing to unite the area, leading to a division in the 2022 general elections, with Ndindi Nyoro emerging as a potential successor to the DP.
Responding to the discourse, Gachagua dismissed the talks, emphasizing his focus on the success of Kenya Kwanza and labelling the discussions as distractions from his primary agenda of aiding President William Ruto and the Kenyan populace.
“I have only one focus as Gachagua, which is to assist President William Ruto to succeed, and nothing else. Whatever else is being said, I’m not there,” stated Gachagua in January.
He urged leaders to prioritize ensuring that those who voted for them witness development, asserting that it was premature to discuss the 2032 succession.
In December 2023, TIFA conducted a survey indicating that Kenya Kwanza had performed poorly in job creation.
The survey identified the cost of living as the primary challenge, with a majority of Kenyans hoping for government intervention in addressing it.
