UDA mp forced to halt her speech after being heckled during President Ruto’s rally in Kiambu
During a recent rally in Kiambu County led by President William Ruto, Thika town’s Member of Parliament, Alice Ng’ang’a, faced criticism from the crowd.
Despite her efforts to communicate her intention to run for governor in the upcoming General Election, she encountered disapproval from some attendees, who expressed their dissatisfaction by booing her until she had to stop speaking.
“Sikizeni, mimi ndio nitapinga gavana Wamatangi hapa Kiambu,” Ng’ang’a said amid boos from the charged crowd.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua later stepped in to address the residents’ behavior, deeming it disgraceful that they were heckling at President William Ruto’s rally. He emphasized that such behavior is typically associated with members of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and should not be seen at events featuring President Ruto.
In reprimanding the residents, the Deputy President emphasized that such conduct in the presence of President Ruto would not be tolerated and cautioned against severe repercussions for those engaging in it.
Gachagua also advised the residents to explore alternative avenues for expressing discontent, such as voting out leaders who fail to meet their expectations. However, in the meantime, he urged them to maintain decorum and refrain from disruption when leaders are speaking.
