‘We won’t be intimidated’- LSK President Eric responds to Ruto’s message to housing project challengers
The President of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), Eric Theuri, criticized President William Ruto’s pledge to employ the ceremonial sword against those hindering his initiatives.
Theuri, in a communication through X media, asserted that the sword’s purpose is to safeguard and uphold the Constitution, rather than being utilized as a tool of repression.
The LSK leader emphasized that the legal community is prepared to confront any governmental action that contravenes the Constitution without hesitation.
He declared their refusal to succumb to threats and intimidation, underscoring their obligation to defend the Constitution and uphold the principles of the rule of law.
Ruto warns saboteurs of pet projects
Previously, Ruto vowed to confront those standing against his housing and health initiatives.
In addressing individuals who had taken legal action to obstruct his flagship projects, the Head of State labeled them as adversaries of progress. He expressed his resolute intent to exercise his authority in order to counteract their endeavors.
“These people are saying that those who do not have medical insurance should not be given one. They are saying that the amount being contributed should not be reduced from Sh500 to Sh300,” Ruto stated
“The same people have also moved to court to stop the housing programme. We are planning on how our youth can get jobs. If someone goes to court to block the construction of houses that create jobs, that is an enemy of Kenya,” he added.
Recognizing the authority vested in him, he pledged to take decisive action against the “enemies of progress,” using the metaphorical term “slash” to emphasize his determination to deal firmly with those opposing his initiatives.
“You granted me these powers. All those attempting to hinder our progress will face my resolve. I am prepared to tackle them, and your prayers are paramount,” he warned
“Because you know I was given a big sword (during his inauguration), do you think that Sword is for chopping vegetables? Is it not for slashing these conmen? I will slash them for real,” Ruto affirmed.
