Wetang’ula plotting to front Health Cs Susan Nakhumicha as FORD Kenya’s gubernatorial candidate in 2027 – Wamalwa
Leader of the Democratic Action Party-K (DAP-K) Eugene Wamalwa has commented on the simmering dispute between Governor George Natembeya of Trans Nzoia and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula.
Former Member of Parliament for Kiminini and candidate for Ford Kenya in Wetang’ula, Chris Wamalwa, was defeated by Natembeya of the DAP-K for the gubernatorial seat in Trans Nzoia in 2022.
Wamalwa sided with Natembeya and accused Wetang’ula, in an exclusive interview with TUKO.co.ke, of being hell-bent on defeating the incumbent governor of Trans Nzoia.
According to him, Wetang’ula was employing every effort possible to taint Natembeya’s leadership and was conspiring to nominate Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha as FORD Kenya’s gubernatorial candidate prior to 2027.
“One thing I can say for sure is that the spat between the two leaders started when there was some aggression from the Ford Kenya leadership against my governor. They have made several trips to Trans Nzoia, where they undermined him with the intention of ousting him in 2027,” said Wamalwa.
He reiterated that the CS would be fielded by Wetang’ula’s party, which succeeded former governor Patrick Khaemba as governor of Trans Nzoia for a decade.
“They are fronting CS Nakhumicha, whom they are using to sabotage and undermine my governor,. They had the last 10 years and failed to make good use of it. The record is clear. They need to give the people of Trans Nzoia time to tembea with Natenmbeya, ” Walawa said.
Regarding the deportation of allegedly unauthorised inmates from the Kitale Prisons, Natembeya and Wetang’ula have been at odds.
All unauthorised landowners in the region were to be evicted, per an order from President William Ruto.
Wetang’ula was confronted by the governor as a result of his oath to safeguard the farmers and a few landowners whom he encountered.
A petition for protection from more than 3000 individuals has placed the 2,700-acre parcel of land in dispute with Wetangula.
