Without Raila at the top, there will be no ODM – Mbeere North MP Ruku

Mbeere North Member of Parliament (MP) Geoffrey Ruku believes that without Raila Odinga at the leadership of the Orange Democratic Movement Party (ODM), the party would disintegrate.

Ruku hinted that ODM members will switch to other political parties.

“The fact is without Raila at the top, there will be no ODM. ODM will die. Different members of ODM will go to other political parties, others will form other political parties. So we are going to see the total disintegration of ODM as it is,” he said on the K24 morning show.

He welcomed MPs departing ODM to join the Democratic Party of Kenya to form a larger and more powerful party.

“We are welcoming them, especially to join the Democratic Party of Kenya so that we can form a bigger party, a powerful party that will capture power in the coming days,” Ruku uttered.

The lawmaker’s statement is in line with recent succession politics within the ODM party, in which prominent members have indicated interest in assuming the position of chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC) should Raila be elected in 2025.
