Young Poet’s Heartfelt Tribute Brings President Ruto to Tears

In a heartwarming display of talent and patriotism, a young girl from Nakuru captivated President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua with a stirring poem during the Annual Akorino Conference on Sunday, June 9.

Amid recent fallout claims, her heartfelt recitation brought a sense of unity and hope to the audience.

Addressing the President and his deputy with affection, she referred to them as “Uncle Willy” and “Riggy G.” Her poem highlighted the journey and triumphs of President Ruto, reminding him and the nation of the challenges he overcame to reach his position.

“President Ruto, they said you wouldn’t be on the ballot. Look at you now. Do you now believe that Kenyans can’t be told what to do?” she recited, causing President Ruto to smile broadly and raise his hand in appreciation.

The young poet shared how she had prayed fervently for Ruto’s victory in the 2022 presidential election and expressed her gratitude for the answered prayers.

She praised the improvements in the country’s economy under Ruto’s leadership, commending him for being a man of his word.

The girl also acknowledged Deputy President Gachagua and his wife, Dorcas Rigathi, for their unwavering support in forming the ruling party, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

She reminded President Ruto of the importance of loyalty, urging him not to betray those who stood by him during tough times, saying, “The ones who stand with you during tough times are your real friends.”

Her recital didn’t just resonate with the leaders but also captivated the crowd. By naming each leader present, she received loud cheers and applause, further highlighting her impressive oratory skills.

In her concluding remarks, she urged Kenyans to trust the leadership and disregard naysayers claiming the country was not progressing. Her message was clear: faith in leadership and unity among citizens will guide Kenya toward a prosperous future.

This isn’t the first time a young girl has moved President Ruto with her words. During his campaign period, Dorine Cheptoo, known as Chibudi Chibudee, delivered a powerful poem titled

“My Dear Future President,” which praised and encouraged Ruto as he pursued the presidency. Her words then, much like the recent poem, highlighted the significance of hope, faith, and resilience in the journey to leadership.
