Yoweri Museveni’s Son Muhoozi Says ‘Uganda will Give Uhuru Kenyatta Job’ “He Can’t Be Jobless”
The son of Ugandan President Yoweri Kainerugaba, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, appears to hold Kenya in particular affection.
Consistently, Muhoozi, a Twitter user known as the “tweeting general,” has expressed both favourable and unfavourable sentiments regarding Kenya while weighing in on the geopolitics of East Africa.
One instance in which Muhoozi incited indignation among Kenyans was when he tweeted that he could seize control of Nairobi within two weeks.
Kenyans responded angrily to his Twitter trolling, which implied that Kenya’s survival was inextricably linked to Uganda and even suggested renaming areas of Nairobi with Ugandan names. He was confronted by Kenyans online.
His father publicly apologised for his military son’s undiplomatic remarks around that time.
“I ask our Kenyan brothers and sisters to forgive us for tweets sent by General Muhoozi, former Commander of Land Forces here, regarding the election matters in that great country. It is not correct for Public officers, be they civilian or military, to comment or interfere in any way, in the internal affairs of brother countries.
“The only available legitimate forum is the Peer Review Mechanism of the African Union or confidential interactions among us or EAC and AU fora-not public comments,” Museveni’s statement read.
In addition to the intermittent disputes he instigates between Uganda and Kenya, Muhoozi has openly lauded former president Uhuru Kenyatta, going so far as to call him the greatest president globally.
Muhoozi once expressed admiration for Uhuru, with the exception of the fact that Uhuru was reticent to run for a third term as president.
The Kenyan Constitution stipulates that the presidency is limited to two terms in office.
Muhoozi reappeared on Tuesday, March 21, disseminating an additional message concerning Uhuru, who had concluded his tenure and was tasked with, among other obligations in Africa, monitoring elections such as the recently concluded Nigerian elections and facilitating peace negotiations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Muhoozi, implying that East Africa was approaching a unification under a single head of state and military commander, emphasised the urgency of such a union to prevent Uhuru from remaining “JOBLESS.”
“Do not worry about Kenya. The Commander-in-Chief of the region, H.E. @KagutaMuseveni is working tirelessly to bring us all on board. There is a lot of anger for sure. How can my big brother Uhuru just be there without a job? If we had Union he would be chilling in Kampala now,” Muhoozi said.
The remark was interpreted by some Internet users as a litmus test for EAC regional politics.
Later, he pulled the tweet; however, photographs of it were captured.
